Fly Fishing

Fly Fishing

Fly fishing is an angling method in which an artificial “fly” is used to catch fish. The fly is cast using a fly rod, reel, and specialized weighted line. Casting a nearly weightless fly or “lure” requires casting techniques significantly different from other forms of casting. Fly fishermen use hand tied flies that resemble natural invertebrates or other food organisms, or “lures” to provoke the fish to strike.

Arthurs Lake offers many options for fly fishing, the first being from a specialised sport fishing boat which we can organise for you with a local guide or shore based fly fishing which can be done directly in front of Blue Lake Lodge and many other areas around Arthurs Lake.  Blue Lake Lodge also offers its own private boat ramp right in front of the lodge if you would like to bring you own boat.

Guided Fly Fishing is available at the lodge and is $650 for a  full day (maximum 2 people plus your guide).  This includes a specialised sport fishing boat, all equipment and packed lunch.  Please note fishing licenses can be purchased online at the lodge.
